Imagine: genomics style

Inspired by the words of E. Feil (“You may say I’m a Dreamer…”), F. Aarestrup and in fact most of the ECCMID talks  about genomics, probably needs some work esp. on the chorus which doesn’t really scan… improvements welcome!

Imagine: genomic data sharing  (lyrics N Fawcett heavily borrowed from above talks)

Imagine in pathogen genomics
co-operation reigned
for the good of all
data in the public domain
Imagine all the scientists
Analysing genes…

Imagine there’s a place
Imagine it contains
sequences from around the world
a central database of strains
Imagine all the genomes
all the science done…

You may say that I’m a dreamer
But I’m not the only one
I hope someday pathogen surveillance data
of the world will be as one

Imagine pathogen genomics
integrated in healthcare
clinical isolates sequenced
doctors with results right there
Imagine all the analyses
using data from all over the world

You may say that we’re  dreamers
But we’re not the only ones
We hope someday pathogen surveillance data
of the world will be as one

(Peace and ecology man)
